Scouting
As part of our service, we encourage churches and scout units to work on the religious awards available for their youth and adult members. Bob Wright, NCLMM board member, is available for reference and/or meetings at any congregation. Call the NCLMM office at 704-633-4861, ext. 125 for additional information. We have annual retreats at Lutheridge and at Lutherock with many service related activities. Everyone at the Lutherock Retreat gave at least 3 hours of service to the camp for an estimated 180+ hours to the camp.
BSA has a new unit award for 2012. As part of that award, units must complete at least 4 unit service projects. Those units attending the 2012 Lutherock Scout Retreat will complete one of those four service projects. When you are asked to contribute or make a purchase related to a Lutheran Scout fund raisers, these can qualify for matching funds from Thrivent. This effectively doubles the amount. The 2012 retreat at Lutherock will be held April 27 - 29 and Lutheridge's 2012 retreat will be Aug. 17-19. Two other retreats held each year: One is held at Camp Agape during the months of March and April. The other retreat is sponsored by the South Carolina scouters. It is held at Camp Kinard on June 18 - 20, 2012.

Inspirations SERVICE
I once asked Keith Sutton, our church Administrative Assistant, what Bible verse would best guide someone in service. He pointed me to Matthew 25:35-40. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' 37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' I cannot image a better guide for my service as a Lutheran man.
